Obituary

Thomas (Tom) Murphy was born on July 25, 1940, in Nashville, Tennessee, and passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, in Palm Springs, California, following a brief illness.

Tom proudly served in the United States Navy and worked for more than three decades in operations and facilities management with General Telephone Company (GTE).

He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing, cars, NASCAR, the outdoors, and Mexican food. Tom was known as a loyal, dependable, dutiful, loving, and honest man who cared deeply for those around him.

His greatest pride was his family. He would want to be remembered as a loyal family man who deeply loved his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his daughters, Briana and Julie; his son, Tom; his granddaughters, Alycia and Hope; his grandsons, Ryan, Christopher, and Brandon; his daughter-in-law, Angie; and his sons-in-law, Kevin and Tim.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Murphy, and his parents, Mary and James Murphy.

Tom requested that his ashes be scattered in the California desert, where he spent much of his life and met the love of his life, his late wife Sandy.
