It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Ernie Betancourt, beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Los Angeles, California, on October 25, 2024.
Born on September 4, 1990, in Los Angeles, Ernie was a shining light in the lives of all who knew him. Ernie had a passion for the culinary arts, teaching himself how to cook without any formal training—a testament to his determination and love for creating joy through food. As a skilled and dedicated line cook, he dreamed of one day working in a high-end restaurant, where his talent and creativity could flourish.
Those who knew Ernie will remember his quiet demeanor that spoke volumes through his presence and his smile, which could brighten even the darkest day. Despite his reserved nature, he brought warmth and strength to every room he entered.
Above all, Ernie was deeply proud of his family. He leaves behind his loving mother, Francisca Betancourt; his cherished daughters, Axel and Batz; and his devoted siblings, Julissa, Jesualdo, Eric, and Yanoaria. He was preceded in death by loved ones who now welcome him with open arms.
A memorial service was held to honor Ernie’s life, and the family plans to hold an additional mass in the near future to celebrate his memory.
