Georgia Mae Hodrick Mosley, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, in Lynwood, California, at the age of 81. Born on January 8, 1943, in Milton, Florida, Georgia lived a life filled with love, service, and profound dedication to her family, community, and profession.
Georgia earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees while raising her family as a single mother, demonstrating remarkable resilience and determination. She went on to serve as a therapist in California for over 30 years, impacting countless lives with her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering support.
She was deeply passionate about her family, friends, and her work. Georgia found joy in her grandchildren, the sisterhood of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, dancing, music, and celebrating life with a good party. Known for her friendly and sociable nature, she had an insatiable curiosity and loved connecting with people.
Among her many accomplishments, Georgia took great pride in overcoming challenges to pursue her education and build a successful career. She will be remembered for her warmth, thoughtfulness, and unyielding love.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, George Hodrick and Ruth Marie Fields Tinsley. She is survived by her children, Katrina Lashea and Jerry Mosley; her grandchildren, Jessica Riley, Kalen Mosley, Matthew Riley, Dominique Mosley, Tristan Mosley and Michael Tinsley, her adopted brother with whom she shared family ties; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.
A celebration of Georgia's life will be held in Pensacola, Florida, at a date to be determined.
