Harold Frederick Marsh, lovingly known as Howie or Freddy, rocked into this world on August 7, 1959, and rocked out on December 3, 2024, at the age of 65. He was the eldest child of Daniel La Vern Marsh (d. 2009) and Ruth Ellen Marsh (d. 1986). Howie spent his formative years in Washington State with his father and stepmother, Francine, before moving and joining his mother and three siblings in California. He attended Burke Jr. High and El Rancho Senior High and graduated in 1978.
He leaves behind a lively legacy and a family who adored him. His sisters, Roslyn (Steve), Beverly (Lisa), Diana (Craig), and his brother Daniel (Bernie), will miss him dearly. His nephews Philip and Wesley, and nieces Jasmine, Genevieve, Zoey, and Ashley, along with 11 grand nephews and nieces, will also feel his absence deeply.
Howie was a true Renaissance man—an all-around artist, composer, singer, photorealist painter, and model maker. Howie continued to spread joy and creativity throughout his life through his art and music, and he also loved collecting classic fast cars that he bought and sold. He worked part-time at his friend Manny’s store in Whittier, Playdays Collectibles, where he enjoyed hanging out. Many people knew Howie as a beloved karaoke DJ, with a loyal crowd that followed him from club to club, always ready for a good time. Known for being the life of the party, Howie had a knack for telling original jokes that could make even the most stoic among us crack a smile.
Though he's now climbing “A Stairway to Heaven,” Howie’s spirit and humor will forever be part of the hearts of those who knew him, an angel whose place is now in heaven.
