Howard David Slater left us after a long illness of diabetes, pneumonia, and heart failure. He leaves behind a legacy of caring, courage, and resilience. He is finally at peace.
He was born in New York on June 30, 1948, and passed on April 4, 2025.
Howie (Slats) Slater had a vibrant personality. He enjoyed sharing stories and laughter, bringing energy to a room. He was quick to express opinions, and he loved to capture moments with photos.
He had an eye for beauty and craftsmanship that brought knowledge to his work as a contractor. He liked to garden and handwrite letters. He loved music and baseball, especially the New York Yankees and Oakland Raiders.
He enjoyed his job as a Steven Spielberg “look-alike” at parties and events.
His travels to India brought him a sense of spirituality, furthered by his love of Judaism.
Howie will be missed by his friends, son Jason Slater, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sister Dale Miller, his brother-in-law Bill Abell, his nephews Lee Ryan Miller and Eric Sean Miller.
