Mario Borras Obituary

March 5, 1942 – March 23, 2025

It is with profound sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Mario Borras, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Mario passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, in Hacienda Heights, California, after a long journey with multi-infarct dementia. He was 83.

Born on March 5, 1942, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Mario brought with him a deep sense of pride in his heritage, a fierce dedication to his family, and an unshakable work ethic that would come to define his life. In 1963, he began his career at Title Insurance and Trust Company, and by 1972, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to found Golden State Title Reporting, a successful business he ran alongside his devoted wife, Maria Del Carmen, for over 25 years.

Mario’s hands were rarely still. With an eye for beauty and a knack for craftsmanship, he found joy in carpentry, masonry, gardening, and landscaping—transforming every space he touched into something vibrant and alive. Whether it was a blooming garden or a remodeled kitchen, Mario left his signature everywhere he went.

A true lover of life, Mario was known for his impeccable dance moves, his flair for Las Vegas trips—especially those glamorous black-tie New Year’s Eve parties—and his adventurous spirit. From the shores of Hawaii to the icy waters of Alaska, from cruising the Caribbean to standing proudly atop the Great Wall of China, Mario filled his life with meaningful memories and countless stories.

But his proudest achievement was his family. Mario was a pillar of strength and love to his wife Maria Del Carmen, his daughter Rebecca, his sons Anthony, George, and Richard, and his cherished grandchildren Tristan, Caroline, and Hayden. A favorite pastime was gathering the grandchildren around for a game of UNO—one he played with competitive joy and laughter. His heart was full with the arrival of his great-grandson, John Dylan Bass Jr., who brought him immense happiness in his final days.

Mario is survived by his loving wife of many decades, Maria Del Carmen Borras; his daughter Rebecca Atkins and her husband David; his sons Anthony, George, and Richard Borras; his grandchildren Tristan Borras, Caroline Bass and her husband John Dylan Bass, and Hayden Atkins; and his great-grandson John Dylan Bass Jr. He is also survived by his sister Anita Borras and brother Dr. Enrique Borras.

He joins in eternal rest his parents, Manolo Borras and Rosa Cordova; his brothers Roberto, Manolin, Victor, and Angelo Borras; his sister Alicia Ortiz; and his brother-in-law William Wong.

Mario would want to be remembered not just for his accomplishments, but for the love he gave—steadfast, generous, and unwavering. He lived fully, loved deeply, and worked tirelessly for those he held dear. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.

We love you, Mario. Thank you for everything.
